ALSET members had the pleasure to meet with representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Prof Geoffrey Cohen, from Stanford University, on 18 November 2019. Prof Cohen is a recognised expert in psychological interventions and he offered some precious insights from his research to improve education. One of the key takeaways can be summed up as the 3 T's for successful interventions to help students:
- Targeting (you want to target the students who really need support);
- Timing (the right timing matters more than the dosage: inform students early, before their confidence got challenged by grades or poor social experience);
- Tailoring (convey the right message, focus on the kind of support the students need).
