Conduct & Discipline

Students and Staff of the National University of Singapore should familiarise themselves with the NUS Code of Student Conduct and Code of Conduct for NUS Staff respectively, which are intended to guide their conduct in both the academic and non-academic aspects of University life. These documents provide an overview of the behaviours they should exemplify as members of the University community.

The Policy on the Protection of Staff and Students Against Sexual Misconduct provides an integrated approach for managing cases of sexual misconduct in NUS, and provides a system for reporting, investigation and decision-making.

Discipline with respect to students is governed by the University's Statutes and Regulations, including Statute 6, Regulation 10 and Regulation 10A. Any student who is alleged to have committed or attempted to commit offences listed in clause 3 of Statute 6 may be subject to disciplinary proceedings.

Staff disciplinary procedures and sanctions can be viewed via the NUS Staff Portal.

NUS is committed to cultivating a culture of respect where all members of our community can safely and productively pursue their academic and professional aspirations. Community awareness and engagement are essential to the realisation of our commitment.

Our report - Building a Culture of Respect and Consent - reflects our unwavering stance against sexual misconduct and underscores our ongoing efforts to raise awareness among students and staff, while fostering a campus community that is both inclusive and respectful to everyone.
