LEE Gek Ling is a Senior Lecturer at CELC, joining in 1988. She has taught a range of courses from English for Academic Purposes to Professional Communication courses. She has also designed critical thinking and academic writing courses. She has written textbooks on comprehension skills for college English and business, and technical communication. She has also published in other communication areas such as intercultural communication for international students coming to Singapore; and a short handbook on email etiquette that was distributed to all NUS staff. Ahead of the times, she collaborated with a counsellor to produce a practical handbook for staff to pick up on anxiety in colleagues and students in verbal and nonverbal communication and how to help them to seek professional help on campus.

She initiated and chaired the Staff Development Committee (2016-2021), She is pleased to have initiated and co-chaired the Special Needs SIG at CELC and later the Inclusive Education SIG for ASoTL.
