The 90-minute workshop, Building Bridges – Communicating and Collaborating Effectively in Culturally Diverse Teams, was conducted by Yurni Said-Sirhan on 14 November 2022 at the Central Library Training Room as part of the Oral Communication Workshop series by the NUS Writing and Communication Hub. The 19 participants who attended the highly interactive workshop came from diverse backgrounds – undergraduates, postgraduates, academic as well as executive staff – enabling the simulation of culturally diverse teams. Through a case study discussion, participants became aware of potential bias that could impede communication and teamwork, and discussed ways to overcome cultural barriers to form effective teams.
