To the audience... This has been a wild ride.
In our pursuit of creating something out of personal meaning, and in spite of the "rules" that may apply when it comes to musical performances in the world of Classical Music or the expectations of contemporary popular culture, MOONRISE has become a labour of love, taking us on a journey of perceiving music for what it is - which is whatever the eventual Performers make of it, and bring into to the world.
We sought to present you something not only different, but also something that would bring you into OUR world. The audio-visual experience that is MOONRISE brings harmony to the dissonance between the Classical and Pop worlds of pianist CHUREN's musical consciousness and to musical chameleon evanturetime's musical journey, symbolically representing the existence and evolution of our generation steeped in both cultural tradition and modernity.
As with the Moon which traverses Time with us, ever-changing yet ever-present, MOONRISE is a pendulum of evolution and resolution; an ebb and flow that accepts that all states are a part of us - that existence is the past, the present... and the perceivable future that will inevitably and recognisably embody all of history.
We hope you will experience this with us, not just as another "different" exhibition or performance, but as a world within worlds of our streams of consciousness; not all-encompassing, but a valiant attempt at being all-embracing.
Contemporary classical pianist CHUREN redraws the lines of classical music in this collaboration with soundscape artist/music producer evanturetime and digital effects artist Prako, to bring you an immersive multi-senatorial musical experience, reimagining familiar favourites such as Clair de Lune and Moonlight Sonata.
SYNOPSIS
Taking inspiration from the Moon, contemporary classical pianist CHUREN (Churen Li) once again redraws the lines of classical music in this collaboration with soundscape artist/music producer evanturetime to explore dualities and balance.
Immerse yourself in another world, with familiar piano favourites such as Clair de Lune and Moonlight Sonata in a live performance of found sounds and subtly beat-driven soundscapes. The audience can expect a curated playlist of music traversing classical and pop genres, celebrating the night with the evolution of the Moon – espoused with an immersive audiovisual experience featuring work by digital effects artist Prako and lighting designer Onion Low.
