In the face of mounting environmental and social pressures, sustainability is rapidly transforming the commercial and financial landscape. This presentation dives into the evolving landscape of sustainability factors, across Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) dimensions, in conjunction with business practices and valuations. We will explore how strong sustainability performance can translate into increased enterprise value, leading to more favorable asset allocation and potentially driving investments into decarbonization activities.
About the speaker:
Associate Professor Johan Sulaeman is the Director of the Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN), a research institute established by the National University of Singapore (NUS). SGFIN aims to shape sustainability outcomes across the economy by providing deep research capabilities in sustainable and green finance with the focal point on Asia. He is a Dean’s Chair and an Associate Professor of Finance at the NUS Business School. He also serves as one of the Scientists at AIDF (Asian Institute of Digital Finance). He has been involved in designing and delivering executive education programmes for large companies and financial institutions in the region, primarily on topics related to sustainability. His research has appeared in top economics and business journals, and been covered in various international publications, including the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. He also contributes opinion pieces to the Straits Times and Channel News Asia.
