International E-workshop on Wastewater-Based COVID-19 Surveillance

The International E-Workshop on Wastewater-based COVID-19 Surveillance organized by NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) at National University of Singapore (NUS) was held online 10 - 11 March 2021. This workshop aimed to create a network platform for knowledge and experience sharing on wastewater surveillance from implementation to reporting and analytics.
NUS Deputy President (Research and Technology) and Distinguished Professor, Professor Tsuhan Chen, graced the event with a warm welcome remark to more than 400 registered participants from over 40 countries.
The 2-day programme covered talks by Keynote speaker, Professor Joan Rose, an international expert in water microbiology who led the International Water Associations Task Force on COVID19 in 2020, and experts from different regions, namely, Assistant Professor Manish Kumar (India), Professor Ana Maria de Roda Husman and Professor Gertjan Medema (The Netherlands), Associate Professor Karina Y.H. Gin, Professor How Yong Ng and Associate Professor Lee Ching Ng (Singapore), Mr. Jayant Bhagwan (South Africa), and Associate Professor David A. Larsen and Dr. Aaron Bivins (USA).
Speakers from Day 1 contributed actively as panellists during the dialogue sessions on Day 2. They were joined by panel members, Professor Shane Snyder and Associate Professor Janelle Thompson (Singapore), and Dr. Jasmine Grimsley (U.K). The dialogue session covered issues in the different stages of the Wastewater-based COVID-19 Surveillance.
