In a bid to strengthen community ties, NUS ComLink Befrienders Sahana ASOGAN, CHAN Zi Yi, and Jolene ANG (from different cohorts) teamed up to host a BBQ session for befriending families in their block. The gathering was more than just about food it was an opportunity for children, families and neighbours to connect in a meaningful way.

The NUS students reserved a BBQ pit and organised games for the children, designed to promote teamwork and social interaction. With prizes to be won, the games not only added excitement, but also helped the children form new friendships with their neighbours in a relaxed setting. Although some families were unable to participate at the last minute, the students were undeterred and remained focused on their goal of fostering community bonds. The participants who turned up enjoyed the games, laughter, and shared activities.

The gathering underscored the power of simple, community-driven efforts and the importance of perseverance. The NUS team demonstrated that even small student-led initiatives can make a positive impact to help build enduring relationships and a sense of community support.
