About The Conference
The Asian Conference on Safety & Education in Laboratory (abbreviated as ACSEL) is an annual conference organised by leading universities in Asia to provide a platform for scientists, engineers, researchers, and professionals across the globe to exchange knowledge on best practices and seek collaboration to enhance laboratory safety and health.
The idea of an international conference centred in Asia materialised in 2013 when representatives from the National University of Singapore, Korea Association of Laboratory Safety & Environment (KALSE) and Japan Association of Lab Safety (JALS) signed a memorandum of understanding to organise a yearly conference on laboratory safety to support the exponential growth in teaching and research programmes in Asian universities. The 1st ACSEL conference was held in University of Tokyo, Japan in November 2014. Thereafter, countries such as Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan hosted the conference and consistently attracted a significant number of local and international delegates and sponsors. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference remained active over 2020 and 2021, with the event held on virtual platforms.

This year (2022), the 9th edition of ACSEL will be held at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The conference will be held in conjunction with the 5th NUS Safety, Health and Environment Conference. The Conference, with the theme “Reinventing Safety and Health for a Resilient Tomorrow”, brings together local and international Safety, Health and Environmental professionals, researchers and regulators to collaborate and share best practices in Safety and Health.
With a string of keynotes, plenary and technical sessions, coupled with exhibitions and poster sessions, the conference promises to deliver exciting networking, professional development and collaboration opportunities.
