Masterclass

The Academy Masterclass Speaker Series was first mooted by the 1st Executive Council of the NUS Teaching Academy in 2009. The plan is to bring a person of international eminence in education for the following purposes:

    1. To enhance the TA’s external visibility as an enterprise that sees value in educational research and practices research-based education.
    2. To facilitate the exchange of ideas, expertise and perspectives in education, policies, pedagogy and innovations with TA fellows, faculty members and the university administration.
    3. To catalyse an internal culture of research-based education and educational research.

Anthony S. Bryk is the ninth president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In his current role, he is leading work on strengthening the research and development infrastructure for improving teaching and learning.

Inaugural Masterclass Speaker 2011: Prof Lee Shulman

Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education, Emeritus at Stanford University and President

Emeritus of the Carnegie Foundation

Lee Shulman received the BA, MA and PhD from the University of Chicago. He served as a professor of educational psychology and medical education at Michigan State University from 1963 to 1982, where he founded and co-directed the Institute for Research on Teaching.
