Always encouraging our team in new ventures with his guidance and utmost support, Daniel Goh is NUS Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education). An NUS alumnus, he is also Associate Professor of Sociology at the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and helms the integrated social science module, Understanding Social Complexity, at the NUS College of Humanities and Sciences.
As Vice Dean (Special Programmes), he oversees innovative modules within NUSC, such as the Impact Experience Project, Global Pathways, and student exchanges. He is also the lead on career support and graduate study advice.
Prof Goh’s core research interest lies in the historical and sociological relationship between culture and state formation. He received his PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2005, the dissertation thesis for which was on the influence of ethnography on colonial state formation in British Malaya and the American Philippines. He has since branched out into three research areas: race and multiculturalism, postcolonialism and the politics of identity, and the cultural politics of urban regeneration. Prof Goh’s research is informed by interdisciplinary collaborations with anthropologists, geographers, historians, legal scholars, planning scholars and fellow sociologists. He has published over 60 articles in journals and books.
Prof Goh was a Workers’ Party Non-constituency Member of Parliament in the 13th Parliament of Singapore, 2016–2020.
Ever reliable and articulate, John was a public policy practitioner at various government agencies prior to joining NUS. He was passionate about the intersection between public policy and higher education in Southeast Asia.
John currently works with Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education) in duties related to the development, advancement and coordination of undergraduate research and implements reforms and enhancements to the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP).
He also liaises with deanery representatives of NUS Faculties and Schools to adapt UROP enhancements to their curricula and programmes and manages and coordinates UROP Teaching Assistants to work with faculty members to advance the pedagogy of teaching undergraduate research.

Inherently candid and avidly passionate about communicating ideas creatively, Losheini graduated from NUS with a Master of Arts in South Asian Studies.
As a Prime Minister’s Book Prize winner for effective bilingualism in Tamil and English, she believes in having the best of both worlds in academic learning, and has taught students at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels along with 2 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant with NUS SASP.
She has also worked as a media analyst in the private sector dealing with quantitative and qualitative media data analysis, for the purpose of providing clients with insight into their brand perception, media performance, and campaign performance.
Losheini currently manages UROP’s online and offline presence and liaises with the relevant partners in promoting undergraduate research across the various non-STEM faculties.

Conscientious and always on the ball, Dr Fairuz graduated with a doctorate in organic chemistry at the National University of Singapore.
Winner of the Best Poster Presentation Award for 2019 Junior ACP in Busan, South Korea at The 9th Junior International Conference on Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia (Junior ICCEOCA-9), she is an aspiring educator who curates, initiates, and reviews the overall running of the REx seminars and workshops.
She also designs introductory workshops and researches on the various pedagogical approaches in pursuit of helping undergraduate students with a penchant for research learning find their research spark.

With 8 years of experience in laboratory management and a keen interest in learning and accomplishing new things everyday, Fathima anchors all administrative support matters in our team. She also facilitates and mediates the REx feedback channel between students and educators to improvise the UROP+REx programme in the most effective way possible.
She is a recent graduate in Bachelor of Science (Pharmaceutical Science) with a passion for science and teaching. Her areas of interest include, pharmaceutical science, discovering efficiency in administrative processes and higher education pedagogies.

Cheerful, and ever ready for new ventures, Lisa works closely with the Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education) to integrate the cultural assets of NUS into the interdisciplinary landscape of undergraduate education.
With a dedicated focus on fostering collaborations and synergies, she works alongside the museum, libraries, arts and various departments to enrich the undergraduates’ educational experience. Lisa is also part of the undergraduate research team to provide support for their ongoing initiatives whenever needed.
