Master's Message

Dear Eusoffians

Greetings in the New Year!  A warm welcome to all those who have just joined the Eusoff family. To returning Eusoffians including those who have come back from SEP/NOC, welcome back!

I am the Master of Eusoff Hall as from 1 January 2019 although I am not a new face in Eusoff Hall – I have been the Resident Fellow of Block D since 2015. Previously, my life at NUS centred primary on teaching and research in the Faculty of Engineering. I enjoyed teaching undergraduate students mathematics and engineering principles and brainstorming research ideas with graduate students. However, Hall life has exposed me to another aspect of NUS life that I never knew about before. My life has been enriched by Hall students and their various projects and talents, which makes me feel a part of a big family at the Hall.

As Master, I would like to reiterate the Hall’s commitment to enhancing your residential experience and building a strong Eusoff community. Together with my fellow RFs, Residential Life administrators and JCRC leaders, we will do our best in our roles as teachers, mentors, administrators and student leaders, to share and institute a commitment to making residential living an educational, enjoyable and rewarding experience for all of you.  I hope that you will make full use of the opportunities available at Eusoff to work towards higher personal and collective ideals and developments.

Inevitably, the quality of everyday Hall life would also depend on how you upkeep hall rules, act responsibly and are respectful of the values needed for harmonious living. To achieve these values, we should continue to inculcate considerate culture and a sense of civility and responsibility towards others. I would like to reiterate the Hall’s policy on Silent Hours between 11pm and 7am, and to always bear in mind that our Hall is located in close proximity to many external neighbours. Let us be considerate to one another and together we will create peaceful and harmonious communal living in Eusoff Hall.

Best regards

A/Prof Qiu Anqi
