Dr Martin Leo

Dr Martin Leo is Chief Risk Officer at the National University of Singapore (NUS) where he oversees pre-emptive, preventive and recovery measures concerning both strategic and operational risks.

With close to three decades of experience in the financial services industry, Dr Martin has a wealth of expertise in leadership, people and stakeholder management. Prior to joining NUS, he held regional risk leadership positions at major institutions including Citibank, ING, Morgan Stanley, and State Street Bank. In these roles, he enhanced risk governance and incorporated transformative practices to achieve risk identification and reduction.

In addition to his corporate contributions, Dr Martin serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Finance at the SP Jain School of Global Management. He is also a regular speaker at risk management conferences covering a wide range of topics, including operational risk management and fintech.

Dr Martin obtained an MBA (Finance) from the Institute of Technology and Management in 2002, and a Doctorate from the SP Jain School of Global Management in 2020. He is a certified Financial Risk Manager from the Global Association of Risk Professionals and certified ESG Analyst from the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies.
