Professor Ho Teck Hua, who has been the Senior Deputy President and Provost of NUS since January 2018, will leave NUS to become the fifth President of Nanyang Technological University. His appointment at Singapore’s second oldest autonomous university will begin on 24 April 2023.

The NUS Mountaineering team set out on a 20-day quest in December 2022 to summit Nepal’s Tserko Peak, which towers 5,749 metres above sea level. The preparation involved months of intense training, with the team stepping up on more glacier as well as rock and ice climbing training during the trip for the final 19-hour summit push.

Singapore wants to be a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) by 2030. Dr Anantharaman Muralidharan, Research Fellow from the Centre for Biomedical Ethics at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS opines that our trust in AI is a matter of trusting the user and that in our embrace of AI, it is important that we do so in a way that is informed by the right understanding of what makes people and technology trustworthy.
Mr Bilahari Kausikan, Chairman of the Middle East Institute at NUS believes that while the US and China will remain at the heart of a fluid international system, an order of dynamic multipolarity is emerging. To successfully navigate this, Mr Kausikan suggests that countries need to have a fundamental shift in mindset and approach, and ensure that their institutions and politics remain agile so as to continually adapt.
