He has been serving as Director (Learning and Development) in OHR since July 2023.

Associate Professor Tok is also a NUS faculty member appointed jointly in the Department of Physics and NUS College. A passionate and nurturing educator, he has received multiple teaching awards, including the Teaching Excellence Award (2015, 2016, 2018) under the former University Scholars Programme, and the University’s Annual Teaching Excellence Award (2004, 2021). An experimental scientist and established researcher, he conducts both fundamental and applied research in the areas of surface science with an emphasis on epitaxy, interface analysis and the elucidation of chemical, physical and structural properties of electronic materials from nano- to macro-scale. He continues to steer an active and productive research programme that contributes to the understanding of epitaxial thin film growth, and also with the National Semiconductor Translation and Innovation Centre.

An NUS alumnus, Associate Professor Tok graduated in 1993 with a BSc (First Class Honours) in Chemistry and Physics. He went on to obtain his PhD from Imperial College London (with IRC Semiconductor Materials) in 1998 on a NUS scholarship. He returned to join NUS as an academic staff in 1999.
