What draws us back to our origins? How do we explain this compelling desire to understand where we come from and return to a culture, with its attendant values and perspectives that may be both alien yet fundamental to us?
Kamal Al-Solaylee is a Canadian journalist and award-winning author of three books of non-fiction: Intolerable (2012); Brown (2016); and Return (2021). He holds a PhD in English from Nottingham University and is the director of the School of Journalism, Writing and Media at the University of Columbia in Vancouver.
