Event Details

Our YST student cellists take centre stage on this evening, presenting a specially curated programme of works that showcase the rich depth and expressiveness of the cello. Performing in ensembles of two, four, eight cellos and more, this evening offers cello enthusiasts and string music lovers a glimpse into the immense talent and artistry of our next-generation string musicians.

This evening features a diverse programme, from the playful and textured concert-style dances in Elizondo’s
Danzas Latinoamericanas, Fitzenhagen’s Concert Waltz, and Piazzolla’s Libertango and Fuga y misterio; to more intimate and enchanting songs of love in Monteverdi’s Pur Ti Miro and Goltermann’s Serenade for Four Cellos.

Look forward as well to innovative compositions and popular works for strings by prolific composers such as Telemann (Konzert in C-Dur (Concerto in C Major)) and Sollima (Violoncelles, vibrez!). The evening ends off with a journey through folk music around the world in Barralet’s Four Folk Songs — demonstrating the versatility of the instrument in capturing a wide range of styles and traditions in performance.
