Event Details
2026 marks the 150th and 120th birth anniversaries of Manuel de Falla and Dmitri Shostakovich respectively. This concert brings together the YST community in a blockbuster celebration of two of the twentieth century’s most distinctive musical voices, through landmark chamber works that continue to shape chamber music repertoire today.
Featuring YST Head of Strings Professor Qian Zhou (violin) and Head of Piano Studies Professor Albert Tiu (piano), alongside YST faculty, students and alumni, the programme includes Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole, Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet, and more works that showcase the striking contrasts, expressive depth and enduring influence of these two composers.
