As we celebrate 50 years of computing education in Singapore, the School of Computing (SoC), Office of Alumni Relations and NUS Lifelong Learning for Alumni invite you to an evening of thought-provoking talks. Gain insights into how individuals and organisations can thrive in the age of AI and discover emerging technologies that connect with us in more human-like ways with the following talks: 

1. Thriving in the Era of AI by Dr Tok Wee Hyong

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping how we work, create, live, and play. This session takes you through the evolution of AI, highlighting its transformative impact on industries and everyday life. 

2. Beyond Computers: Tech that Sees, Feels and Remembers with You by Associate Professor Suranga Nanayakkara

Imagine technology that doesn’t just sit on your desk or in your pocket but becomes a helpful extension of you. This talk explores exciting breakthroughs in Assistive Augmentation: smart tools designed to support people with impairments and even enhance how we all sense, think, and interact with the world.

Dr Tok Wee Hyong is a distinguished Data and AI leader with a strong record of building and scaling businesses to industry-leading positions. He has authored over ten publications on products and artificial intelligence, including Practical Weak Supervision and Practical Automated Machine Learning. Previously, he served as Head of AI Labs at Microsoft, where he led global teams in delivering advanced AI solutions across multiple industries. He also co-founded the AI for Earth Engineering and Data Science team, contributing significantly to AI for Good initiatives addressing global sustainability challenges.

Dr Suranga Nanayakkara (Engineering '05, PhD '10)

With publications in prestigious conferences, demonstrations, patents, media coverage and real-world deployments, Suranga has demonstrated the potential of advancing the state-of-the art in Assistive Human-Computer Interfaces. For the totality and breadth of achievements, he has won many awards including young inventor under 35 (TR35 award) in the Asia Pacific region by MIT TechReview, Outstanding Young Persons of Sri Lanka (TOYP), INK Fellowship and Research Excellence Medal at University of Auckland.
