Event Details

Pique your taste buds for a specially curated sake appreciation and tasting, paired with chef’s selection of Japanese cuisine for an enhanced dining experience. At the same time, you can gain a deeper understanding on the basics of sake as you savour its different varieties.

Programme Outline:

  1. Introduction and brief history of sake
  2. The brewing process, ingredients, and sake types (Junmai, Ginjo, Daiginjo, etc)
  3. Insights into how flavour profiles vary with rice polishing, fermentation, and other factors
  4. Sake tasting and food pairing

Menu (inclusive of 4 types of Sake to be paired):

  • Hamachi Carpaccio & Japanese Fruit Tomato
  • Inari & Foie Gras Gunkan & Wagyu* Sourdough
  • Spicy Baby Corn & Tori Karaage
  • Sanchoku Wagyu Striploin*
  • Matcha Pannacotta

(*Note: A non-beef alternative option is available.)

Promotional Registration Fee

  • NUS Alumni: $90 (U.P $180)
  • NUS Student: $50 (U.P $180)

Terms & Conditions

  1. Registration for the event is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and priority is for NUS alumni and students. NUS alumni and students will be required to provide details on your NUS student and alumni ID to enjoy the subsidised price.
  2. Registration fees are non-refundable.
  3. TANOKE is not halal-certified; the menu offers a selection without any pork-related items.
  4. The restaurant is unable to accommodate any food allergies.
  5. Seating is open, so feel free to arrive early with friends if you’d like to sit together. Specific seating arrangements may be limited due to space.
  6. The venue does not have wheelchair access and requires participants to climb a flight of stairs.
  7. Photography and videography will be carried out for archival and marketing purposes. NUS and its event partners may use some or all of these images/videos in their print publications, digital platforms and marketing channels.
  8. By registering for this event, you hereby consent to NUS collecting, using and/ or disclosing your personal data to third parties (including any third party located outside of Singapore) for the purpose of processing, handling and managing your participation in the event stated herein.
  9. The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the event programme - including but not limited to speakers, schedule, and content - without prior notice.
  10. The organiser reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the organiser's control. Registered participants will be notified via email or other means of communication provided during registration.
  11. By participating in the event, participants agree to indemnify the organiser from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of their participation.
