Event Details
New Taipei City, Taiwan's largest municipality with 4.4 million residents, is strategically located between Taipei and the international airport. Known for its modern infrastructure, it has attracted leading high-tech companies while emerging as a sustainability leader. As Taiwan’s first city—and the world’s tenth—to publish an SDGs Voluntary Local Review, New Taipei demonstrates its commitment to global sustainability efforts.
Amid escalating challenges like climate change, cities play a vital role in implementing impactful solutions. New Taipei City leverages its SDGs journey to scale and replicate strategies that address poverty, education, sustainable resources, and climate resilience.
This lecture explores how New Taipei aligns local actions with SDGs through policy reform, organizational transformation, and strategic collaboration. By integrating top-down leadership and grassroots engagement, the city advances urban development, environmental sustainability, economic growth, and social inclusivity, offering lessons for global sustainable development.
