The 90-minute workshop, Building Bridges – Communicating and Collaborating Effectively in Culturally Diverse Teams, was conducted by Dr Yurni Said-Sirhan on 21 February 2023 for the second time at the Central Library Training Room as part of the Oral Communication Workshop series by the NUS Writing and Communication Hub. The 13 participants who attended the interactive workshop were undergraduates, postgraduates, academic as well as executive staff from different disciplines, departments, or offices in NUS. It was an ideal setting to collaborate in culturally diverse teams indeed! Through the sharing of personal experiences and a case study discussion, participants became aware of potential bias that could impede communication and teamwork, as well as discussed ways to overcome cultural barriers to form effective teams.
