Creative Technology founder Sim Wong Hoo has left behind a huge home-grown tech legacy and big shoes for others to fill. The listed company shot to fame with its Sound Blaster sound cards in the 1990s, and commanded international standing and influence in its heyday. While there may not be a local equivalent right now, technology pioneers such as Mr Sim have paved the way for Singapore Inc. Dr Samer Elhajjar, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Marketing at NUS Business School, remarks that the next business powerhouse from Singapore will need a strong business ecosystem, technological inventiveness and strategic marketing.
