During the National Day Rally, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong emphasised the need to strike a balance between protecting youth and empowering them to leverage technology. Dr Chew Han Ei, Senior Research Fellow and Head of Governance and Economy Cluster at the Institute of Policy Studies, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS, comments that instead of denying access, young people should be equipped with skills to self-regulate their digital use.
