Shift the focus to tackle myopia in Singapore

Shift the focus to tackle myopia in Singapore

Adjunct Asst Prof Jake Goh Jit Khong and Dr Foo Li Lian 13 Jan 2025

It increases the risk of severe complications later in life, which can lead to visual impairment and significantly reduce quality of life. To address the problem, Adjunct Asst Prof Jake Goh Jit Khong from the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Dr Foo Li Lian, Clinical Asst Prof, from Duke-NUS Medical School, say the focus must shift from prevention to containment, with an emphasis on early intervention, consistent follow-ups and comprehensive public education.
