Raffles Hall Gala Dinner

30 March

Generations of Rafflesians spanning six decades flocked together at the Raffles Hall 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner held at Shangri-la Hotel Tower Ballroom. A total of 380 alumni attended the celebration including ex-Hall Master Justice Tan Lee Meng (Law '72)and past Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC) President Mr Muralli Pillai (Law '92).

Kicking off the night was a RH60 Video Tribute followed by an energetic performance by RH Dance. Addressing the crowd of young and old alumnus, Hall Master, Associate Professor Ho Chee Kong exclaimed, “Today we have no VIP list, because everybody is a VIP today!”, followed by an inspiring story about legacy by founding President of Raffles Hall Association, Mr Sonny Yuen (Business '85).

Alumni were treated to performances by current undergraduates RHockerfellas, RHUnplugged and serenaded by fellow alumni including Rosita from Class of 1993 and Datuk Stephen Quah from Class of 1984.

The grand launch of the Raffles Hall Coffee Book was also initiated at the event by Assoc Prof Ho and the Coffee Book Committee. Spearheaded by Mr Andrew Loh and Dr Rendy Tan, the book contains written memories of Rafflesians spanning different generations. Each guest at the Gala Dinner also received a copy of the book.

The event concluded with cake-cutting, traditional yum seng and RH Anthem led by Gala Dinner Committee Chairperson, Mr Dixon Tioh (Computing '2014). As the RH Anthem was sung in unison by both the young and older alumni, followed by the traditional RH Cheers, one could not help but feel that they have returned home!
