Dr Ye’s top tips:
  • Prioritise effort and research above all else, striving to understand topics from first principles.
  • Develop independent thinking skills are by conducting personal research and analysis.
  • Embrace the freedom to explore diverse research topics and ideas.
  • Seek out valuable discussions and interactions with knowledgeable peers, whether they are colleagues, customers, or lab mates.
  • Take advantage of opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas to enhance understanding and perspective.
His advice is particularly relevant given that machine learning (ML) is growing exponentially. ML is a branch of artificial intelligence where systems learn patterns from data, enabling them to make predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed.
