STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields have traditionally been dominated by men. However, an increasing number of women are breaking barriers in these fields. According to the 2019 combined Singapore university intake data, women accounted for 41 percent of the student cohort in STEM courses. At NUS, women made up about 30 percent of the STEM disciplines in 2021.
