Are You Exceptionaal? Apply for NUS Achievement Awards by 31 Jul 2024

Applications are now open for the NUS Achievement Awards 2024. We welcome applications from NUS students and student organisations with outstanding contributions and achievements representing NUS in AY 2023/24. Applications close 31 Jul 2024 .

Award recipients can look forward to receiving these:

  • An invitation to attend the NUS Achievements Award ceremony in person with your family and/or friends
  • Mention of the Award achievement in your NUS Student Life transcript  (Distinction and Merit recipients only)
  • Acknowledgement of your Award at the NUS Commencement ceremony (Distinction and Merit recipients only)
  • An NUS digital badge to include in your LinkedIn profile and CV
  • An Awards memento and commemorative pin (Distinction and Merit recipients only)
  • An invitation to a photoshoot for our ceremony collaterals (Distinction and Merit recipients only)
  • An Awards certificate and commemorative pin (Commendation recipients only)

Reminders:

  • Please download the necessary supporting document templates required by each category . Ensure that you have the completed supporting documents on hand when you click 'apply' as there is no option to save drafts.
  • A separate application is required if you are keen on more than one category. If there are duplicate entries within the same category, OSA will only consider your most recent submission.
  • For team/group awards, please appoint only one representative to submit the application. The rep will become the sole point-of-contact of the team/group for all communications leading up to NAA.
  • Successful applicants in the shortlist for a Distinction or Merit award will be notified by OSA in mid-Sep 2024 to attend a compulsory photoshoot held on Sat 21 Sep 2024.

Arts
This category seek to celebrate artistic excellence in NUS, and recognise significant contributions to the arts and arts management at NUS and the wider community

There are four sub-categories:
1. Original Artistic Work of the Year
2. Arts Production of the Year
3. Arts Group of the Year
4. Performing Arts Student of the Year

Supporting documents may include:

  • A downloadable link for the full production / artwork
  • A 30-sec excerpt that best represents the work
  • Production Schedule
  • Marketing Plan & Materials
  • Budget Statements
  • Feedback from audience
  • A letter of recommendation from tutor (if any)
  • List of collaboration with other NUS Arts Group(s)
  • Summary of activities and initiatives

Each sub-category requires specific supporting documents. Do look through each sub-categories' questions carefully before starting your application submission.

Community Impact
This category recognises inspiring projects that have made a significant impact in the following fields: community service (local and/or overseas); social integration; sustainability; health and well-being; promotion of arts or sports. The key consideration for this award is demonstration of the impact a project had on the community.

  • Evidence of the number of participants (mandatory)
  • Promotional/publicity materials
  • Project proposal
  • Project evaluation results
  • Letter of support
  • Budget statement or statement of accounts
  • After-action Review document
  • Any other documents relevant to application

Competitions (General)
This category recognises individuals or teams who have represented NUS in a competition and have excelled in the international, regional and/or national level. This includes, but is not limited to, non-varsity sports-based competitions as well as Hackathons, Moots or Debates. The teams’ result must be in the top 3 of the competition and there must be at least 5 other competing teams

Necessary supporting documents include:

  • Verification of competition details (timeframe, total number of competing teams, level i.e. global, national)
  • Verification of competition results
  • Verification of sub-awards or special mentions received
  • List of competition participants (obtain from competition organiser if need be)

Leadership
This category recognises Student Leaders who have significantly enhanced Student Life through their leadership qualities and the embodiment of the core values of NUS: Innovation, Resilience, Excellence, Respect and Integrity.

Necessary supporting documents include:

  • Three testimonials from the following (please use this testimonial form)
    • Staff Advisor
    • Student Organisation President (or other EXCO member if applicant is President)
    • Team member under applicant's leadership
  • List of members of team led, including each members' name and leadership position
  • Screenshot of NUSync roster on portal verifying leadership position (for official student organisations)

Sports

This category seeks to recognise high-performing male and female sporting individuals with an exceptional track record of achievements. It is only open to varsity athletes and sports teams who have represented NUS in competitions.

There are three sub-categories:
1. Sportsman / Sportswoman of the Year (for individuals)
2. Sports Team of the Year:

  • Team Sports (Eg, Basketball, Handball, etc)
  • Individual Sports (Eg, Archery, Swimming, etc)
  • Event Sports (Eg, Badminton pair, Athletics Relay, Shooting Trio, etc)

3. President Sports Awards (Individual / Team) - for individuals and teams who have previously been nominated for two years in a row.

All applicants must submit all their competition results achieved and additional information on your contribution during the qualification period. Individuals and teams who have contributed to NUS in community sports events, community service and other initiatives will be considered more favourably.
