Ms Goh Mia Yang
Senior Associate Dean, Office of Student Affairs

An alumna of the NUS Law School, Mia Yang joined the university after eight years in legal practice. Little did she know that she would spend the next 19 years at the helm of the Law School's administration team, overseeing various departments and ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day operations. Mia Yang’s involvement with student life started much earlier when she was appointed Resident Fellow of Temasek Hall (2003- 2011), Resident Advisor of Kuok Foundation House (2011 – 2016) and Resident Fellow of Raffles Hall (2016 - 2017). Her experience as a residential staff for 14 years laid a solid foundation for the work she is undertaking as part of the OSA team today. Mia Yang’s support for the arts extends beyond her professional career to being a proud parent of a local theatre practitioner.

Assoc Prof Chan Tze Law
Vice Dean, Office of Student Affairs
Vice Dean (Career Orientation & Community Engagement), Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music

Conductor and Associate Professor Chan Tze Law is Vice-Dean and founding faculty member of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, and concurrently Vice-Dean of Students overseeing the NUS Centre for the Arts. As conductor he has performed internationally and his recordings are featured on Apple Classical, Spotify, YouTube and Singapore Airlines Krisworld. A/P Chan leads the conservatory’s Master of Music Leadership programme. He also conceptualised the conservatory’s Bachelor’s degree in Music Collaboration and Production and Singapore’s first university-level music courses under Singapore's SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) funding framework for adult education and skills upgrading. More recently, he devised and implemented the NUS Arts for All initiative, an arts framework to integrate university student life with interdisciplinary learning.

 
Dr Chew Suyin
Assistant Dean (Student Affairs), Yale-NUS College

As a dancer, Dr Chew trained at Purchase Dance Conservatory, New York. From 1992-1994, she was Head of the People’s Association Culture Department. As an Esplanade Theatres scholar, she was part of their pioneering management team. From 2015-2019, she was Board (Chair) of Raw Moves Dance Company. As an educator since 1997, she was instrumental in designing and teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Arts Management for LASALLE College of the Arts. Her PhD thesis looked at leadership and stakeholder influence in dance companies. At Yale-NUS, her role in student care and advising has facilitated the integration of dance to support mental well-being. This has resulted into two courses of such nature offered at NUSC. Under the NUS Performing Arts Academic Committee, she got to support the development of credit bearing dance courses on campus.

 
Assoc Prof Ho Chee Kong
Master, Tembusu College
Vice Dean (Academic Programmes & Quality Enhancement), Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music

Dr Ho Chee Kong is Associate Professor and a founding head of composition and faculty member at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST). He has taught at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the University Scholars Programme before joining YST. He is currently the College Master of Tembusu College and the YST Vice-Dean for Academic Programmes. He was appointed Master of Raffles Hall in 2010, following his appointment as Resident Fellow and Deputy Master at Eusoff Hall in 2000. As a composer, A/P Ho has been often commissioned to write for both Western and Chinese ensembles. He was the founding President of the Composers Society of Singapore and has served on various international and local arts advisory committees and boards.

 
Ms Jobina Tan
Senior Associate Director, Centre for the Arts, Office of Student Affairs

As Section Head of Centre for the Arts at the NUS Office of Student Affairs, Jobina oversees a team that nurtures the development of student arts activities and has been the Festival Director of the NUS Arts Festival since 2022. She started her career in programming for television and later headed the theatre and dance programming teams at The Esplanade Co. Ltd as well as the programming team at Arts House Limited. Her interest in education also led her to the Ministry of Education where she was posted to the Arts Education Branch and later to a primary school as Vice-Principal of Administration.

Assoc Prof Victor Tan
Master, Temasek Hall
Deputy Head, Dept of Mathematics

Associate Professor Victor Tan, Deputy Head of the Department of Mathematics, oversees teaching and the undergraduate program. Renowned for his exceptional teaching, he has received multiple awards at both the faculty and university levels, including the prestigious Outstanding Educator Award, the highest honor for teaching at NUS. From 2017 to 2023, he served as the President of the Singapore Mathematical Society. With nearly 20 years of experience in residential life, A/P Tan was a Resident Fellow at Eusoff Hall from 2005 to 2014 and has been the Master of Temasek Hall since 2015. He is deeply committed to the leadership and holistic development of NUS students beyond the classroom.

 
Assoc Prof Wong Mun Loke

Vice Dean (Academic Affairs), Faculty of Dentistry
Associate Provost (Integrated Education), Office of the Provost

Mun Loke is actively engaged in the design, planning and review of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme.  Apart from his administrative roles, he remains passionate in teaching his area of specialisation in Dental Public Health.  With his team from the Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs in the Dental Faculty, he works closely with undergraduates on student life matters beyond their studies.  Recently, he has been looking at how the formal and informal curricula can better complement one another to contribute towards enhanced holistic educational experiences for students.  With his interest in education, Mun Loke also contributes to the NUS Teaching Academy where he is presently the Vice Chairperson.
