NUSSU Rag Day 2024

This year’s Rag theme, "Back to Our Roots," emphasises sustainability. NUS Students' Union (NUSSU) collaborated with each participating body (PB) to pledge sustainable practices, including using greener materials. With the support of NUS SAVE, PBs were assessed on the environmental impact of every float and offered recommendations on material sourcing, management and disposal. NUSSU pledges a two-year commitment by NUSSU to include more sustainable practices within Rag!

SunNUS 2024

In 2024, SunNUS introduced sustainable practices by producing singlets without specific year markers, allowing them to be reused in future editions and minimising waste. Goodie bags from previous years were repurposed, demonstrating resourcefulness. Additionally, expired bottled water was utilised for game logistics and the bottles were subsequently recycled. As part of their commitment to sustainability, the team also dedicated a station in their Sentosa Outdoor Adventure Race (SOAR) event to educate participants on environmental responsibility.

Tembusu College

Tembusu College ordered minimal merch for their orientations, and carefully assessed their carbon emissions. By doing so, in 2024, they were able to reduce physical vouchers by almost 12%. They also produced a pilot sustainability guide for hostels, and aim to invite all hostels to contribute to future iterations.
