Research Computing Resources and Services

UNIVERSITY HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMPUTING (HPC) RESOURCES

The University HPC resources managed by the Computer Center include compute clusters with high-bandwidth low latency interconnection, high-performance storage space, scientific modeling and visualization system (MobileVisLab), application software and tools. The resources are open for use by all NUS staff and students. Please refer to the following links for more details of the HPC resources and access instructions.

Besides the shared resources, Computer Centre is providing the following on-demand utility based services to researchers who need dedicated HPC resources for their research simulation.

2. HPC PAY-PER-USE SERVICE

  • The service – Dedicated HPC cluster which can be provisioned in hours, suitable for short-term or ad-hoc research computing needs.
  • The cluster is provisioned with proper support and maintenance, shared software packages, compilers and numerical libraries, 500GB workspace per user and efficient job management and scheduling tool.
  • For details on cost and how to subscribe – Please contact the HPC team at hpccloud@nus.edu.sg or check out the HPC Pay-Per-Use service website.

3. HPC CONDOMINIUM SERVICE

  • The service – Dedicated HPC cluster which is suitable for long-term research computing needs in fixed period from 1 year to 5 years.
  • The cluster is provisioned with proper support and maintenance, shared software packages, compilers and numerical libraries, 500GB workspace per user and efficient job management and scheduling tool.
  • For details on cost and how to subscribe – Please contact the HPC team at hpccloud@nus.edu.sg or check out HPC Condominium service website

4. ON-DEMAND STORAGE FOR RESEARCH

  • The service – low-cost, large-capacity storage solution for research and general use, ideal for archival purposes as well as for low to medium I/O performance storage needs. The storage volumes are provisioned over the campus network, and therefore, there is no need for any physical connection to client systems, other than the normal Ethernet connection.
  • For details on the cost and how to subscribe – Please refer to the Utility Storage Service web page here, or contact the Utility Storage Service team at CCEUtilityStorageService@nus.edu.sg for further details.

5. WRITING A GRANT PROPOSAL – YOU NEED COST ESTIMATES?

With the rapid growth in computational based research at NUS, researchers are often required to work out the cost of their computing requirements whenever they submit a research proposal or apply for a research grant. This cost estimation guide hopes to offer some tips on what to consider when estimating the cost of research computinghttps://comcen.nus.edu.sg/services/hpc/cost-estimation-for-grant/ Please feel free to contact the HPC team at ccehpc@nus.edu.sg if you have any related enquiries.
