With every celebration of past achievements comes an opportunity to look ahead. For RSM Singapore, their 40th anniversary was a chance to affirm their vision for the future: raising up the next generation of business leaders.
To mark this milestone, the professional services firm established the RSM Singapore Financial Scholarship at NUS Business School (NUS Business). This gift is part of the larger RSM Endowment Scholarship Fund, created to support nine local tertiary institutions.
RSM Singapore’s Senior Partner and CEO, Mr Chio Kuan Huat thought that the gift of education was the best way to celebrate the firm’s anniversary. “Education is a powerful social leveller, and people are our future,” he said. “Investing in young people is the most enduring way to honour our past and secure a stronger future for Singapore.”
Supporting Future Leaders
RSM Singapore’s commitment is rooted in its own humble beginnings: the firm started out as a home-grown company, shaped by people from all walks of life. Because of this, Mr Chio knows firsthand how great talent can come from any social class, and he believes financial constraints should never prevent such gifts from flourishing.
“We hope to help uplift talented youths who may not otherwise have access to higher education, or whose ability to realise their full potential is disrupted by financial pressures at home,” Mr Chio said. “We believe no young person should be denied the opportunity to pursue his or her aspirations due to financial constraints.”
The firm hopes its gift will not only help students complete their education but also empower scholars to grow into strong leaders with a mindset grounded in empathy and social responsibility.
“Students at NUS Business will be the business leaders of tomorrow,” Mr Chio said. “They will shape future-ready organisations that are competitive and socially conscious, recognising that progress comes with the responsibility of giving back.”
He also believes that RSM Singapore’s generous gift will inspire others to contribute to their community. “If the Scholarship enables even one student to rise beyond his or her circumstances, to innovate, and to uplift others in turn, the impact will multiply across generations,” he said.
RSM Singapore’s gift shows how corporate milestones can become opportunities to create lasting impact through education.
