The University is committed to ensuring that deserving students receive the support they need to pursue their studies at NUS. With the launch of the Enhanced Financial Aid Scheme (EFAS) in 2022, Singaporean students from families with annual household income of up to S$52,800* are now able to study tuition-free. This has been made possible by the generosity of many donors.
Each year, about 3,300 full-time Singaporean undergraduate students at NUS benefit from the Scheme. To sustain it, the University aims to raise S$200 million in endowed financial aid gifts. To date, S$79.2 million has been raised.

In 2022, during a tree-planting event at Kranji Coastal Nature Park, a new idea took root — one that brought together our environmental efforts with our mission to make education more accessible.
This idea grew into the Plant-It-Forward (PIF) Challenge, a fundraising initiative that supports EFAS while advancing NUS’ sustainability goals. Every S$1,000 given towards the Challenge will be recognised with a tree planted on campus, symbolising both opportunity for students and a greener future for all.
