Degree Scrolls

Students who have completed all degree requirements and have been conferred their degrees will be issued degree scrolls.

For All Graduated Students except Class of 2020

(i.e. Class of 2020 refer to students whose degrees were conferred from 31 July 2019 to 30 June 2020):

 


You will be issued your degree scroll(s) and complimentary official academic transcript(s) during the annual Commencement ceremonies in July. Commencement each year is meant for students who have completed their studies, and been conferred their degrees between 1 July of the preceding calendar year and 30 June of the current calendar year, both dates inclusive:

If you are not attending the ceremony, you may collect your degree scroll and complimentary transcript from the Registrar's Office from 2.00pm on the working day immediately after the last day of commencement ceremonies onwards.

Alternatively, you may also collect your degree scrolls and official transcripts earlier, according to your conferment date (please refer to Graduation for conferment periods). Please refer to the collection schedule below.

Your degree scroll will be withheld if there is a “Hold” on your record. You can log in to myEduRec to check for any “Hold(s)” and contact the relevant office to work out the necessary rectification.

Note: Over-the-counter collection of degree scroll is still currently unavailable. You may however, request for the scroll to be mailed to you (see ‘How can I collect my Degree Scroll’ tab for more details).

If you are a graduate from prior Commencement years but have not collected your degree scroll(s) and transcript(s), you may collect them from the Registrar’s Office throughout the year.

 

  1. In Person/By Proxy

    [Over-the-counter collection service is currently still suspended. You may request for the scroll to be mailed to you instead – see ‘2. By Courier’ below]

    You may collect your degree scroll and complimentary official transcript personally, or authorize a proxy to collect on your behalf from:

    Proof(s) of identity, i.e. your NRIC or Passport, is required for collection.

    For verification purposes during collection, the proxy will be required to produce the following documents:
  2. By Courier
    You may also request for the degree scroll and complimentary transcript to be sent to you by courier at a charge. However, the University would not be able to replace the degree scroll should it be lost or irreversibly damaged in the mail. Please note that once your request for delivery by post has been submitted, the payment is non-refundable.

    Please submit your request to transcript@nus.edu.sg with the following information:
    • A copy of your NRIC/Passport (for verification purposes)
    • Your Name
    • Mailing Address
    • Contact Number (required for courier service)
    • Email Address (for provision of postal tracking number for overseas address only

    Please make payment of SGD14.00 (for addresses IN Singapore only) or SGD60.00 (for addresses OUTSIDE of Singapore) by one of the following means:

    a) Internet Banking
    You can make payment by means of Internet Banking if you have a Singapore bank account. Payment can be made with the following details:

The University does not normally issue a replacement degree scroll if the original one is destroyed or misplaced.

Instead, a letter certifying that the student is a graduate of the University will be issued.  For information on certification letters, please click here.

E-degree scrolls and e-transcripts have been issued to graduates who were conferred their degrees from July 2019 to May 2020. An email containing the e-documents has been sent to your NUS Lifelong email account

For students who will be conferred on 30 June 2020, your e-degree scroll and e-transcript will be sent to your NUS lifelong email account by end July 2020 latest.

For the Class of 2020 only 

(i.e. students whose degrees were conferred from 31 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 only):


An email to the Class of 2020 was sent on 6 June 2020 via your NUS lifelong email account. The email includes details on:

  • Postpone Commencement 2020 ceremonies
  • Modes of collection of degree scrolls and complimentary official transcripts
  • Ordering of gowns
  • Return of Student Pass 
This information was also reflected in the ‘Important Information for Graduating Students’ document emailed together with the e-Conferment Letter (applicable to those who were conferred their degrees on 30 June 2020 only) in the first week of July 2020.

The respective webpages also reflect the updated information.


An electronic copy of the degree scroll and transcript (if applicable) has been sent to the Class of 2020 in July 2020 via your NUS lifelong email account. Please refer to the e-Scrolls and e-Transcripts webpage for more information.

You may obtain the hard-copy degree scroll and complimentary official transcripts by any of the following means: 

  • By Post
    If you indicate this option via myEduRec (Academics > Commencement Registration) BY 31 July 2020, postage fees will be waived.

    If you indicate this option via myEduRec (Academics > Commencement Registration) AFTER 31 July 2020, postage fees will be charged.

  • Self-Collection at Registrar Office
    Self-collection or collection by proxy is available from 1 September to 30 November 2020 by appointment only. More information will be provided to you in due course should you indicate this option.

  • At Commencement 2020
    Uncollected scrolls and transcripts will be issued at Commencement 2020 in January 2021.
Your degree scroll will be withheld if there is a “Hold” on your record. 

 


Yes, you may still login to myEduRec > Commencement Registration and indicate your Degree Scroll and Transcript collection option.  However, if you choose to receive your documents by post now, you will need to pay for the postage.  Here are the steps.

  1. Login to myEduRec (via “Graduated Student’s Login”) > Commencement Registration.
  2. Register your attendance for Commencement 2020, and at the same time, select your degree scroll and transcript collection option – “Mail to Me”.  Do remember to indicate your contact number for the courier company to contact you on delivery matters.
  3. Postage Payment (SGD14.00 (for addresses IN Singapore only) or SGD60.00 (for addresses OUTSIDE of Singapore)

    You may make payment via one of the following ways:

Postage charges will be waived for students who opted, by 31 July 2020, in myEduRec (Academics > Commencement Registration) to receive by mail.

Students who opt to receive by mail after 31 July 2020 will need to pay for postage. Please refer to the question above for charges and payment method.


The degree scroll and complimentary transcripts will be mailed out in batches from July to August 2020.  You may expect to receive your package sometime from end-July to mid-October 2020.
