Student Insurance

Students who are enrolled on a full-time basis are required to subscribe to the university’s medical insurance scheme. The scheme also covers part time students enrolled from AY2026/2027 onwards, except part time continuing professional education (CPE) students.

The health service fee is charged to your miscellaneous student fees and due at the same time as your tuition fees. This is a compulsory scheme with no available opt-out option.

Individuals under the Research Scholars scheme will have their fees automatically deducted each semester from their stipends. Please check your Student Bill to verify your coverage.

Benefits will cease and you are no longer eligible to the scheme’s subscription when you have/are:

  • Conferred
  • Awaiting conferment date and with no billable Health Service Fees
  • Ceased your status as a full-time student and have converted to a part-time status (only applicable to cohorts before AY2026/27)
  • Withdrawn from your course of study
  • Terminated from your course of study
  • On Leave of Absence (LOA)*

* Coverage is limited to incidents/medical conditions (attributable to NUS and/or its activity):
   - which occur on NUS campuses;
   - while the student is participating in activities organised by NUS;
   - while the student is representing NUS in activities;
   - while the student is travelling to and from NUS or venue where the activity is held.
* If LOA is issued because of a medical reason, student will be covered for the current semester in which he/she was diagnosed and till the end of the next semester, contingent on full payment of health service fees.
