For The Love Of Robots

The annual appreciation dinner hosted by NUS President and NUS Alumni Relations for alumni leaders, volunteers, partners and staff was held on 12 February. 

NUS alumni spread the love, with over $374,000 raised to support undergraduates. 

More than 70 alumni attended the NUS Alumni Manila Networking Dinner on 19 February hosted by NUS Alumni Relations.

The auditorium at Shaw Foundation Alumni House packed to almost a full house with the screening of Crazy Rich Asians, a Hollywood movie with an all-Asian cast.

As the end of the workweek drew near, close to 100 young alumni got together for Thirsty Thursdays on 7 March at Patara Fine Thai Cuisine to Sabai Sabai (“chill and relax” in Thai). 

Close to 80 alumni gained some insights into the various industrial revolutions and what ‘Industry 4.0’ is from the speaker of this workshop, Associate Professor Goh Puay Guan from NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (NUS SCALE) and Department of Analytics & Operations, NUS Business School. 

At the Breakfast Dialogues held on 25 January at the NUS Society Suntec City Guild House, alumni and guests were treated to an insightful and engaging session with the Deputy Managing Director and Managing Editor of popular news and lifestyle website mothership.sg, Mr Martino Tan (Public Policy ’09).

Dr Noorman Abdullah (Arts & Social Sciences ’02, MSocSci ’05) is a Senior Lecturer and the Assistant Dean (External Relations & Student Life) within the Department of Sociology & Anthropology and the Department of Malay Studies at the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (FASS). His research interests include religion and society; race relations; decolonial pedagogies; and sensory studies.
