What are your present research interests?

Our current research interests are enabling material development and creating strategic values for Industry 4.0 and beyond through the use and integration of advanced manufacturing. We are also actively involved in inter-disciplinary research to create translational work for the biomedical industry through advanced manufacturing.

Do you have a distinctive viewpoint to your research?

Advanced manufacturing is achieved through the true integration of virtual domains such as digital simulations and artificial intelligence with physical domains such as additive manufacturing or 3D printing. We look at the use of 3D printing as a unique opportunity to synthesise novel materials and realise product designs that were previously challenging using conventional techniques.

What do you see as your future research directions?

In the future, we aim to develop new materials and innovative products that are enabled by next generation 3D printing which has the capability for multi-material and in-situ material synthesis.

Does your laboratory have a particularly strong research expertise?

We have established relevant protocols and frameworks for material development in 3D printing. These materials can have targeted properties based on their end-use applications.
