Many of us might have chosen halls for the convenience it brings, the vibrant experience it can offer amidst the school life, and the friendships we can build. But why are you in King Edward VII Hall, and why should you continue to stay here? This year, we hope to answer that question and help you find your #whyKE with us!

“Life is like a toilet roll, the closer you get to the end, the faster it turns”.

Coming into my final year in university, the precipice of my adolescence, I find myself constantly counting down the days till it ends. John Mayer, a modern poet in his own right said it best, there’s no stopping this train we call life. The only thing we can do is to make best use of the time we have left. So do what you want to do, meet who you want to meet and say what you want to say. Soon you’ll be at the end of the roll and you have to flush it all down so make sure you don’t regret anything!

“Big things happen one small step at a time.”

As the Honorary General Secretary, my mission has been to keep the heartbeat of KE7 strong and steady. Whether it’s coordinating events, streamlining communications, or ensuring that no resident misses out on the excitement, I’m the silent orchestrator behind the scenes. From weekly updates to surprise announcements, I strive to keep everyone in the loop (make sure you read up my WUTW!). Let's make every moment count and enjoy our incredible journey together in KE7! 🤟🔥

“Money supports the vision, but only passion brings it to life.”

As the Finance Director, I oversee the usage of funds and facilitate financial procedures for student activities. My aspiration is to support our CCAs and events by alleviating financial concerns for student leaders, allowing them to focus on enhancing their CCAs and cultivating an enriching hall experience for KEVIIans. Together, let’s make every penny count and coin new ways to create our #whyKE moments.

At King Edward VII Hall, we believe in the power of collaboration and community. Every resident is essential to our journey, bringing diverse strengths and growth within a unified community. As your Internal Affairs Director, I aim to make KEVII Hall more than just a place to live, it’s a home where lifelong friendships are forged, memories are made, and every resident is empowered to shine.

“Ape together strong”

When someone asks me which hall I’m staying at, they will often follow up with “huh where's that?” With a blank, expressionless stare, I respond with a gentle but mildly condescending tone: “It's not about where, but who”. While we may seem insignificant, at least, we are insignificant together. As your Internal Affairs Director, I strive to upkeep the togetherness and spirit of KEVII. Like Ah Meng and his apes, we will find strength in numbers. And I think that’s the essence of calling somewhere “home”.

“We only regret the chances we didn’t take.”

As the Social Affairs Director, I am thrilled to work together with my CCAs to organize activities that contribute back to society. Beyond providing opportunities for KEVIIans to give back to our community, my CCAs also focus on creating connections between incoming freshmen and outgoing alumni, helping to strengthen their bond with KE. We aim to create a safe environment where you can explore new opportunities and thrive, ensuring that you never look back with regret over the chances you didn’t take.

“Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is.”

The second best decision I ever made in my uni life was to put KE in my top 3 choices,  the best decision I made was to stay in KE after my first year. It taught me so much about myself that I would never know unless I came to KE and I continue to learn and grow everyday in the most fun way, surrounded by the people that I LOVEEEE!

“Now or never.”

More than a hall, KEVII is a home. A home where one can grow as an individual, a leader, a sportsman, an artist and so much more. KEVII has given me and so many others the opportunity to do things that we never thought we’d be able to do. So if you’re still thinking about doing something (hint: KEVII sports), just do it! Because if not now, then when? #letsgoKE

There is a saying that goes - “1 minute of glory on stage is 10 years of hard work off stage”.
