Blackbox 23/24
Event Description
Blackbox is Temasek Hall Dance Club’s (THDC) annual dance production put up by THDC members. This year, Blackbox had two main goals. Firstly, Blackbox III was as an avenue to push dancers by creating a safe environment to explore choreography and new genres of dance. Blackbox III allowed THDC members to take ownership of their growth by giving THDC a production that they can fully call their own, creating a core memory that bonds all THDC members. Secondly, through the theme of Blackbox III “To and From '', Blackbox III aimed to tell a story to the audience by showcasing different messages via various dance items. The main goal of this was to let the audience feel the heart and passion of THDC members towards dance. After three months of hard work and preparation, THDC put up a successful production on the 22 and 23 of December that embodied the heart of THDC.
The alumni members were mainly involved in two items, “Dance” choreographed by Dylan Kok as well as “The Ushers” choreographed and performed by alumni members Antriksh Verma, Tran Thanh Tung and current year four THDC member Dylan Kok. The item “Dance” showcased the story of the choreographer Dylan Kok’s journey through dance, with the alumni coming in at the climax of the item, earning much cheers from the audience. “The Ushers” showcased the alumni members’ strong dance skills, with just three people in the item managing to engage and captivate the audience through their sharp and skillful choreography.
The continued involvement of the alumni members in Blackbox is undoubtedly meaningful as it allows current THDC members to continually be inspired by our strong alumni that pioneered and created the first production of Blackbox. It also allows to continue building strong bonds within THDC between both past and present THDC members.
