Painting Our Stories: Our Homescapes, Wall Mural Painting 1.0
Helix House once again brought its residents together for an event that involved creativity, collaboration, and community spirit. “Our Homescapes: Wall Mural Painting 1.0 ” gave Helixians a unique chance to leave their mark on the walls of their shared residence.
Held on 3rd and 4th September 2024, the event encouraged residents to engage with their living space in a meaningful way, regardless of their artistic backgrounds. It brought residents together to contribute to a mural that symbolises the diverse interest groups of Helix House. Each section of the mural represents a different aspect of Helix House life. For instance, the coffee cup represents the Bean and Leaf group, where members bond over a shared love for coffee and tea; the basketball signifies the Sports groups, highlighting the importance of physical activity and teamwork; and pizza, a universal comfort food, stands for the Baking group, where residents gather to share their joy of cooking and baking. The mural also features social media icons, which represent the Publicity group and symbolise the importance of connection and communication within the community. A camera is also included to represent the Photography group, whose members are dedicated to capturing the special moments at Helix.
These different symbols showcase the vibrant, multifaceted interests and talents of Helix House’s residents. Ultimately, the mural serves as a visual reminder of the shared passion and creativity that define life at Helix House, and the sense of belonging that these interest groups develop among the residents.
