Painting Our Stories: Our Homescapes, Wall Mural Painting 2.0
On the 16th September 2024, Helix House continued its tradition of creativity and community building with the another session of mural painting. “Our Homescapes: Wall Mural Painting 2.0” focused on a powerful and relevant theme: sustainability.
Residents came together once again to collaborate on a mural that is not only an art project but also a reminder of our collective responsibility towards the environment. At the heart of the mural is a bird, symbolising peace and harmony, highlighting the importance of a peaceful and harmonious relationship with our environment. Surrounding the bird are lush trees, representing life, growth, and the need for conservation, reminding us of the role that trees and forests play in sustaining life on Earth. There is also the familiar recycling symbol, reinforcing the importance of mindful consumption and the need to reduce waste. This symbol serves as a visual prompt for residents to adopt more sustainable practices in their daily lives.
During the event, the atmosphere was lively as residents, be they experienced artists or first-time painters, came together with paint brushes in hand with a common purpose. With laughter, teamwork, and a lot of energy, the mural gradually came to life, transforming the once-blank wall into a vibrant, colourful space.
On a symbolic level, this mural stands as a daily inspiration for all Helix House residents. Each time they walk by it, they are reminded that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable planet.
