Our mission is to empower individuals towards holistic physical, mental, and social wellness, enabling them to unlock their potential and make meaningful contributions. Together, we are building a vibrant, healthy, and engaged NUS community.

Andrew

Dr. Andrew Epaphroditus Tay, Chief Wellbeing Officer

Andrew is the Chief Wellbeing Officer and Head of the Health & Wellbeing team. In his current role, he leads and drives the University’s health and wellbeing strategies to enhance the resilience of the employees.

As a graduate of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Andrew’s career in medicine took an interesting turn when he took up various roles in prominent global companies in the private sector such as Facebook as Asia Pacific Regional Benefits Consultant and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as Director for Health and Wellbeing, before returning to his alma mater to serve in his current role.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys playing bass guitar in a live band and mixing cocktails at home.

Zhengqin-2023

Mr. Goh Zhengqin, Deputy Head (Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist)

As Deputy Head, Zhengqin provides leadership to the clinical teams, and creates partnerships and initiatives that enhance health and wellbeing across the University’s campuses.

Zhengqin has over 13 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist in educational, public health, and forensic settings including leadership positions.  Having benefited from a positive undergraduate and graduate experience in the National University of Singapore (NUS), he feels privileged to give back to his alma mater.

In his free time, he prioritizes and enjoys being with his family and his multiple pets (furries and creepy crawlies). And as opportunities present, he indulges in playing acoustic guitar, reading, skipping and inline skating.

Joanne-New

Ms. Joanne Hong, Team Manager

As a team manager, Joanne supports the Health & Wellbeing team in realising the University’s goal of achieving optimal health and wellbeing for both staff and students.

Joanne has 10 years of experience as an operations administrator in the public healthcare setting, where she supported various Heads in providing for the operational and staff welfare needs for the department. She believes that it is important to take care of staff wellbeing to cultivate a happy workforce that will be physically, mentally and socially ready to deliver and perform well.

In her spare time, she enjoys exploring Singapore capturing beautiful moments through the camera lens and engaging in activities such as swimming, cycling and badminton with her children.

Michelle

Ms. Michelle Lee, Lead, Programme Management

Michelle has over a decade of experience in the mental health and wellbeing space, where she conceptualized and developed targeted programmes for the working population. She was also in charge of setting up and sustaining peer support structures across schools, workplace and the community.

Now, she hopes to contribute her skills and expertise back to her alma mater, and aims to create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing challenges they face with others, be motivated to take action for their own wellbeing, and to seek help if needed.

When not at work, Michelle spends most of her time with her 2 kids who contribute the most to her own happiness and wellbeing. When possible, she also indulges in her favourite activities such as floral arrangement and travelling.

Daphne

Ms. Daphne Ong, Learning Consultant & Coach, Programme Management

Trained as an ICF Coach, Daphne has had the privilege of journeying with hundreds of clients from diverse backgrounds. Daphne aspires to be the guiding light for individuals who are seeking clarity and purpose in their lives. She cares about helping people live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life on their own terms. Daphne is also skilled in designing personal effectiveness and team effectiveness training programmes for a global audience, with experience in delivering these trainings to employees in the APAC region. In her leisure time, she finds balance through practising yoga and connecting with nature. She also enjoys exploring her creativity by experimenting with interesting recipes!

Jenny-Tung

Ms. Jenny Tung, Programme Manager

Jenny, originally from the beautiful Great White North, has been calling Singapore home for over ten years. Her professional journey has encompassed a diverse range of experiences working with both local and multicultural organisations, providing her with a deep understanding of different perspectives and a versatile skill set. She firmly believes in the power of creating a positive work environment to enhance productivity and employee well-being. She is grateful to have the opportunity to be in the Health & Wellbeing team and be part of the transformative mission to build a healthier, thriving community.

As a Programme Manager, Jenny plays an active role in the operations and management of workplace well-being programmes. Her dedication to personal and professional growth fuels her work, as she is passionate about making a meaningful impact. Mindfulness is an integral part of her self-care routine, and during these moments, you can find Jenny engrossed in a good book, exploring her artistic side, whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen, or even finding solace in cleaning and organising her home. Her love for reading has even led her to establish a community library for her neighbourhood, fostering a sense of connection and knowledge-sharing.

She is excited to continue leveraging her skills to create positive change in the workplace and beyond, bringing joy and growth to those she works with.

Justine

Ms. Justine Teo, Branding and Communications Manager

Justine believes that a curious mindset backed by an empathetic listening ear can help with the understanding of the target audience’s interactions with a brand.

With a background in creatives and visuals, marketing, brands and social media, she is looking forward to helping spread the word about health and wellbeing. She feels that everyone is deserving of the resources to help them realise their own fullest potential.

When not at work, Justine can be found working hard to serve the whims and fancies of her cat overlord.

Sophie

Ms. Sophie Loo, Programme Partner

As a programme partner and organizational psychologist in the Health & Wellbeing team, Sophie adopts scientist-practitioner approach, blending evidence-based research with practical application to drive impactful outcomes.

Prior to this, Sophie spent several fulfilling years as a psychologist in the clinical field, supporting both neurodivergent and neurotypical across different healthcare settings.

She enjoys consciously slowing down, contemplating about the brevity of life on this earth, reading, playing pool, guitar and learning new skills.

Yen-Ceen

Ms. Yen Ceen Teh, Learning Partner Manager

Driven to create purposeful work for herself, Yen is now striving to make workplaces and careers meaningful for people. She believes strongly in human connection, that while it heals, it also brings forth the power that makes the world a better place for everyone.

Bringing her experience in developing education programmes for people from all walks of life, she now serves her current role in crafting effective programmes to remind people that their mental wellbeing comes first.

She enjoys binging on documentaries showing her a side of the world and life she has never seen or experienced.

Yvonne

Ms. Yvonne Seet, Programme and Engagement Manager

A healthy body and mind go hand in hand. Yvonne is passionate about health and wellbeing, and how it affects our work and life. That is why she joined the team – to help others achieve their wellness goals by finding balance and harmony in life.

Before joining the team, Yvonne was doing organisational development work, which involved designing and facilitating change and performance to promote organisational health. With her complementary skills and knowledge, she is now working hard to design and deliver effective and engaging programmes for everyone who deserves to feel their best.

In her free time, she enjoys HIITing, practising yoga or doing some Amazon therapy. She is also determined to visit all 47 prefectures in the land known for its Omotenashi.

Jeanie

Ms. Jeanie Chu, Lead, Clinical Consultancy (Principal Wellbeing Specialist Partner)

Jeanie is a clinical psychologist who believes in enhancing and empowering individuals to mitigate challenges and utilise potentials to achieve their best in all aspects of life.

Prior to her current engagement, Jeanie has worked in various psychological settings such as the ministry, hospitals, community, and private clinics with a diverse population. In her clinical work experiences, she provided individual and group assessments and therapies across a spectrum of different conditions. Besides clinical work, she was also involved in evidence-based clinical research such as designing and implementing psychological assessment tools and programs, providing consultations, talks, and workshops to organisations, and participating in social media events and interviews to enhance public mental health awareness. Trained in multiple psychological skills and approaches, Jeanie adopts a non-directive, eclectic and holistic approach in her psychology practices.

In line with her psychology practice, Jeanie believes in mind-body connection. She leads an active lifestyle and enjoys a variety of workouts such as running, spinning, boxing and hot yoga. She also spreads her love and passion through yoga teaching and body combat classes, with the hope of enhancing the well-being of others physically, mentally and emotionally.

Daryl Goh Bio

Mr. Daryl Goh, Clinic Manager

As Clinic Manager, Daryl supports Health and Wellbeing’s Clinical team, manages the clinical operations and uses data to help drive process improvement and standards to accelerate business outcomes.

Daryl has over 10 years of healthcare experience working as a nurse, quality executive and clinical informatics analyst in the public healthcare setting. He has helped transform the electronic medical record system for the national healthcare group and trained end users to be familiar with new systems. His unique blend of critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills enables him to build connections effortlessly and build strong client engagement. He is honing a growth mindset toward learning and is constantly unlearning, relearning, and reintegrating new skills into his life.

During his free time, he enjoys playing video games, watching sci-fiction movies, and exploring the Park Connector Network on his folding bicycle.

Johnathan

Mr. Johnathan Yap, Wellbeing Navigator

Keeping the mailbox at hwb@nus.edu.sg under control (among other things).

Passionate about the intersection between mental health and data science, specifically in how it's shaping our understanding of mental health conditions and guiding more effective interventions.

 

 

Soon-Jiaying

Ms. Soon Jiaying, Senior Wellbeing Specialist Partner

Jiaying is a clinical psychologist who strives to empower individuals in finding hope and meaning to their lives. She values her role in working collaboratively with her clients to enhance their psychological wellbeing.

Prior to her current engagement, Jiaying has worked in the various settings such as special education, community, primary and private health care. She believes in the importance of public education to promote wellness and reduce stigma on mental health, hence she actively engages in outreach programmes.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She also sets aside time for self-care through active engagement in physical activities.

KIRSTY

Ms. Kirsty Png, Senior Wellbeing Specialist Partner

Kirsty is a Counselling Psychologist who holds a warm and safe therapeutic space.

She empowers clients to cope through trauma, grief, mood & anxiety disorders, learning needs, and relationship challenges by adopting a strength-based person-centred approach. Kirsty is also a level 3 Gottman trained psychologist. Having experiences in educational, community, public hospital & private health care settings, supporting clients from early childhood to geriatrics, Kirsty is frequently humbled and amazed at clients’ resilience and determination as she journeys with them towards successful management of their concerns.

Hiking is Kirsty’s favourite way recalibrating! She believes in taking ‘time-in’ through having space for reflections as well as through valued feedback from trusted companions who broaden her perspectives.

Janice

Ms. Janice Leong, Wellbeing Specialist Partner

Driven by compassion, Janice is a clinical psychologist dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients, meeting them where they are in their personal journeys. As a helping professional, Janice strives to support individuals through difficult transitions and empower them to take meaningful steps forward in their lives.

Throughout her training towards becoming a clinical psychologist, Janice has worked in various clinical, community, and tertiary psychiatric settings. Her experience in crisis and suicide intervention and postvention, trauma work, and managing acute mental health disorders has deepened her interest in trauma-informed care, complex trauma, suicidality, and bereavement.

Janice advocates for integrative approaches to healing that is tailored to each individual. Apart from evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), she draws from other third-wave approaches that focus on personal values, cultivating self-compassion, and mindfulness. Beyond therapeutic modalities and psychological tools, Janice strongly believes that the essence of effective therapy lies in a warm, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship, which she aims to foster in her practice.

Outside of work, Janice can be found pirouetting in the dance studio, hiking and exploring the mountains, or pretending to be a Masterchef contestant facing a mystery box challenge in the kitchen. She also loves terrorising her two cats and capturing their silly antics.

OLIVER

Mr. Oliver Tan, Wellbeing Specialist Partner

Oliver is a Clinical Psychologist who focuses on creating a warm, safe, authentic and collaborative therapeutic environment for clients to explore their challenges. His approach empowers clients to develop insight into both strengths and difficulties using process-based therapy (PBT). He draws from a range of evidence-based techniques from diverse therapeutic modalities including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, as well as mindfulness and character strengths interventions.

Prior to this engagement, Oliver trained and worked in a community clinic as well as inpatient and outpatient settings in both public and private hospitals. He has worked with persons struggling with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, autism, burnout, relationship difficulties, chronic pain and chronic health conditions. Oliver is also a certified peer support specialist and previously journeyed with persons-in-recovery in a community mental health setting.

Outside of work, Oliver cares for his wellbeing by going birdwatching, playing music and spending time with his dog.

Joanne-Chua-Bio-Pix

Ms. Joanne Chua, Lead

A clinical psychologist by training, Joanne is passionate about improving access to psychosocial and mental health care, destigmatizing help-seeking behaviour, and cultivating a climate of growth and wellbeing in organizations. She draws inspiration from her varied background in healthcare, academia, and L&D programme development. Joanne was part of the pioneering team that developed ‘Roots & Wings’, a personal and interpersonal effectiveness soft skills module to develop future readiness in NUS undergraduates. Her mission is to normalize conversations and mindsets about psychological wellbeing and resilience, to create more inclusive and compassionate workplaces.

Outside the office, you will find her on the yoga mat, at the gym, or at a beach resort on a remote island.

 

Katherine

Ms. Katherine Koh, Learning Consultant & Deputy Lead

As a Consultant, Organisational Psychologist in the Health & Wellbeing team, Katherine's goal is to help build more inclusive and safe workplaces where employees feel supported and can thrive to reach their fullest potential.

In her work, she has managed, designed and implemented numerous workplace mental health programmes, frameworks and resources across the community and corporate sectors, in a multitude of industries.

She enjoys going on scenic walks, good coffee and may or may not be a little too obsessed with her cat, Lily.

Mr. Muhamad Haikel Bin Mohamed, Special Projects Care Manager

Mr. Muhamad Haikel Bin Mohamed, Lead, Special Projects

Trained as a social worker, counsellor, adult educator and nurse, Haikel has served local and international communities. He has previously worked on capacity building, casework and counselling as well as disaster relief and peace-time missions with organisations like Singapore Red Cross and Mercy Relief.

Passionate about mental health, Haikel has developed and provided training in psychosocial support. In his work, he has also provided mentorship and guidance to psychological first aid trainers and facilitators. He aspires to empower individuals and communities in their journeys to achieve optimal mental wellness.

On any ordinary day, he enjoys a cup of teh tarik (milk tea) or bubble tea somewhere while gaming or reading.

John

Mr. John Leow, Senior Special Projects Care Manager

Trained as a Counsellor, John had worked in several agencies within the Social Services sector as a Counsellor and Case Manager. For the past ten years, John has supported clients with a wide range of challenges and has helped clients manage them effectively. John strongly believes in empowering clients to discover their strengths to overcome their challenges and helping them achieve the optimal level of overall wellness.

John is passionate about Mental Wellness and the Return to Work programme. He is excited to be part of the team to help support the client in distress to continue leading a meaningful life despite the circumstances.

John enjoys spending quality time with his family and hunting for local delicacies during his spare time.

Dominic

Mr. Dominic Yeo, Senior Special Projects Care Manager

Trained as a social worker, Dominic has honed his skills in casework management and counselling through extensive experience in various social services agencies and organisations, including Intellect. He further enhanced his expertise in mental health work during his tenure at the Ministry of Health. Throughout his career, Dominic has been a steadfast source of invaluable assistance and support to numerous individuals and families navigating a wide spectrum of challenges. He has offered guidance through difficult circumstances and helped them overcome systemic barriers with compassion and dedication.

Dominic is known for his empathetic approach and commitment to person-centered care. He creates a safe space where individuals feel comfortable sharing their perspectives and challenges. Dominic ensures that each person is heard, understood, and supported so that they are empowered to overcome their challenges.

In his free time, he enjoys cooking for his family, watching football and swimming to keep himself active and fit.
