Networking has always been considered an essential part of any job search strategy or career advancement. Networking can even help you find unadvertised jobs/internships.
However, networking may not be everyone's cup of tea as it is sometimes associated with 'cheesy events', the idea of 'self-promotion' and can even be awkward for some people. Despite these connotations, networking skills are essential for building professional confidence and contribute to social well-being.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to principles, techniques and frameworks that will help you beyond just knowing more people, but building deeper connections built on mutual respect and trust.
As more events are moving back to physical spaces in the new post-pandemic world, this physical workshop seeks to provide you with practice on how to network and make a lasting impression at physical events such as the upcoming NUS Internship Day 2022.
You will take part in interactive activities and role plays to immediately put into practice what you learn.
At the end of this workshop, you will learn:
• How to make a great first impression
• Ways to strike up, continue and end conversations with ease
• Overcome anxiety in networking and develop confidence and presence
• Cultivate professional relationships
This workshop is part of the NUS Internship Day 2022. Find out more about the career fair here.
