With the influential role that technology plays in almost all aspects of life and business, it is unsurprising that careers in the tech sector are highly sought after. The misconception among many is that there are significant barriers to entry to the sector unless you possess advanced technical skills such as coding or data science.
It is crucial to draw the distinction between the traditional tech-heavy roles, versus what SkillsFuture Singapore describes as “tech-lite” roles that are equally important in the digital economy.
Join this physical panel discussion and be inspired by the sharing from professionals, including NUS alumni, who have successfully carved out careers in the tech industry despite coming from non-tech backgrounds. You will also have the opportunity to raise questions for the speakers during the Q&A segment, and network with them in-person over a buffet dinner.
Through this panel discussion, you will:
- Learn about the various types of “tech-lite” roles in the tech industry where you do not need to know how to code / programme (e.g. product management, digital marketing, business analytics, corporate development, etc.)
- Gain insights in what companies look for when recruiting for critical business-focused roles
- Understand how you can equip yourself with the skills and experiences to break into the tech sector
Who should attend?
- Students of all faculties who are interested in breaking into tech companies for internships or full-time roles
- Undergraduates and postgraduates are welcome
This session is brought to you by SAGE (Sharing And Gaining Experiences), a knowledge-sharing platform that empowers youths to make informed life decisions by focusing on providing them with higher education and career guidance.
