Everyone is talking about the Metaverse. With virtual worlds like Decentraland and local social media creations like Bondee, the possibilities for businesses and individuals are vast. Accompanying this are the waves of change Metaverse is bringing to the way we work and interact. It is now possible to hold meetings via avatars, buy and sell digital tokens such as NFTs, and use blockchain technology to build virtual worlds.

Big brands are leveraging the Metaverse to virtualise their products. Nike created ‘Nikeland’, a metaverse space that allows consumers to meet, socialise, and buy digital products to decorate their avatars. Whilst Ikonz, a wealth-building platform, helps intellectual property owners, artists, and other established icons manage and monetise digital assets.

A specialist in spatial computing and extended reality, Lionel 'entered' the Metaverse when his start-up iMMERSiVELY was acquired during COVID-19 to embark on the Web3 journey. Today – aside from serving as Chief Metaverse Officer at WORLDX, he also mentors start-ups and adjunct lectures at universities on XR and Web3.

Edmund Situmorang, the Group Chief Technology Officer of ABL, has over 15 years of senior management experience in multiple businesses across verticals and horizontal streams, from financial Industry such as banking, insure-tech and fintech fields, as well as tech development in artificial intelligence and blockchain. He is passionate about Strategy, Technology with speciality in AI and IoT, and Human Capital Development with a motto of “Invest in People”.

Edmund has been invited to many International Leader's Summits to deliver keynote speeches on Cyber Security, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Digital Transformation and Marketing. While actively engaging as a community resource, he also fosters the startup community. He has been studying abroad since his early teens, graduating from High School in the Philippines, finishing his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and taking on a Master’s in Business at the age of 17. Edmund has worked in the United States for 11 years as Programmer and Strategist, and is enthusiastic about technology, especially in the development of the Metaverse and blockchain.
