In recent years, the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought about changes in the job market. One notable development is the emergence of advanced language models like ChatGPT. These models possess the remarkable capability to generate text that resembles human language and can engage in conversations. With their natural language processing abilities, they are impacting various aspects of the job search process. 

In this workshop, we will explore the influence of generative AI on the dynamic job market, with a specific focus on ChatGPT.

Participants will have the opportunity to: 

  • Gain insights into the role that AI can play in job search
  • Explore AI-powered platforms and tools that utilise GPT (eg. ChatGPT, Bard, Bing etc.)
  • Learn the effective usage of ChatGPT for resume optimisation, interview preparation, and effective prompting strategies
  • Learn about the limits to the usage of ChatGPT
  • Address important ethical considerations associated with the use of ChatGPT in job search and hiring processes

This workshop is designed for students seeking to stay abreast of the ever-evolving job market and harness the power of AI tools like ChatGPT. Join us to acquire valuable knowledge, develop practical skills, and connect with experts in a friendly environment complemented with light refreshments.

Prof Lek Hsiang Hui
Prof Lek Hsiang Hui
Senior Lecturer, Department of Information Systems and Analytics, National University of Singapore

Prof Lek Hsiang Hui is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at National University of Singapore (NUS). He graduated with Bachelor of Computing (Honors) in Computer engineering and PhD in Information Systems from National University of Singapore. He currently teaches undergraduate courses in Enterprise Systems Design and Development courses. He also conducts executive training in Healthcare Analytics at the Centre of Health Informatics (CHI). He currently serves as one of the department's Curriculum committee members which look into the curriculum planning. He is also one of the faculty advisors for the NUS BiZiT Society, a student-initiated society that aims to promote Visibility for the business IT industry.

Zachary is an engineer (by degree) turned ecommerce manager, where he spent the last 10 year of his career in various start-ups and tech organisations. This includes ZALORA, where he was the business head to launch the fashion marketplace in Singapore; and also Amazon where he was part of the pioneer team to launch 3 different businesses in the region. Zachary is now part of NUS career advisor team for the School of Computing, where he is looking to support upcoming graduates to secure their first careers. He maintains a keen interest in exploring and leveraging the transformative potential of AI in job searches.

Career Advisor, NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates

Mei Yin is currently a Career Advisor with the NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Prior to NUS, her past work experiences were in the public sector, aviation, and non-profit industries. As an NUS alumna, she hopes to empower NUS students to take brave baby steps on their career journeys, and eventually make leaps into meaningful careers.
