Product Management Immersion: Navigating Real-World Challenges

With the growing tech sector, there has been a growing demand and interest in product management in Singapore in recent years and the skills required for product management are widely applicable across multiple roles in tech.

This Product Management Immersion workshop employs a blend of case studies, group activities, and hands-on simulations. Seasoned product managers will contribute as expert facilitators sharing real-world projects and providing valuable insights. You will get to roleplay as product managers and immerse in case studies designed by seasoned product managers.

This workshop offers undergraduates a unique and high-fidelity experience to delve deep into the world of product management and understand what it takes to be a product manager, including the skills, traits, challenges and satisfaction. You will acquire a concrete understanding of product management, empowering you to make informed decisions about pursuing a career in this field.

In this session, you will:

  • Gain insights into the daily life of a product manager and various stages of product development
  • Engage in simulated real-world scenarios mirroring challenges faced by actual product managers and apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations
  • Identify essential skillsets and qualities, such as communication, leadership, analytical thinking and adaptability, required for effective product management
  • Explore common challenges and work collaboratively to devise strategic solutions
  • Learn about frameworks and methodologies, such as Agile and Design Thinking, used by product managers

  • All students who are keen to network with seasoned product managers

Wing Shan graduated from NUS with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is currently a digital product manager at DBS, supporting the Bancassurance team. She focuses on leveraging emerging technology and research insights to deliver best-in-class customer journeys across multiple digital channels.

Jianyang, a product manager from a non-technical background, specializes in data and business intelligence. Currently, he serves as a product owner at Visa, overseeing innovative solutions that utilise generative AI.

Mark Vu

Ex Product Lead, Nas Company

After graduating from NUS with a Bachelor degree in Materials Science and Engineering and the NOC experience, Mark started his career in tech as a backend engineer at Alipay. Later on, he became the founding engineer and product lead at Nas Daily, helping build the tech team in the early days to 10 engineers and launch multiple products for creators, helping them monetise from their audience and creative works.
