Attend this Journalism Panel to hear from our distinguished veteran journalist speakers about how to get into the field of journalism, common challenges faced, and most of all, how to build a lasting, thriving journalism career. This talk will not only deepen your understanding of this exciting industry but also shed light on how you can take your first step towards a career in this field.

Steven Chia
Steven is an award-winning journalist with over two decades of experience. He currently anchors current affairs programme Talking Point and podcast – Deep Dive. Prior to that Steven helmed both the morning and evening prime time news bulletins on CNA. Outside of work, Steven is an avid volunteer. He sits on the board of the YMCA of Singapore, is a member of the Charity Council and also an advisory board member for the Communications and New Media Department at the National University of Singapore.
Ilyas Sholihyn
Ilyas Sholihyn is the Editor-in-Chief of RICE Media, a digital publication known for its investigative reporting, cultural commentary and human-interest stories in Singapore. Prior to RICE, he has had over a decade of experience running online news and lifestyle publications such as Bandwagon, Coconuts Media, and AsiaOne. His perspectives on modern digital journalism have been sought after and shared in universities, industry podcasts, conferences, and corporate boardrooms.
Emelda Ong
Emelda Ong is currently an audio content producer with Zaobao, SPH Media Limited since June 2022. In her current role, she brainstorms global and local trending stories suitable for weekly podcasts series such as Pantry News Talk, Global Heartbeat, Finance Talk and more. Yet, Emelda is no stranger to the media industry and has dabbled in myriad roles across platforms within the industry during her schooling days in NUS. She was involved in driving social media campaigns from scratch to achieve marketing goals for SPH Radio Stations UFM 100.3 and 96.3 HaoFM. Keen to explore hands-on options, Emelda also shot and edited digital content for local news channel 8World Digital and Bridge Consulting, a China consulting firm specialising in healthcare content.
