The NTU Economics Sub-Club, in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), is pleased to invite all undergraduates at Singapore-based universities to compete in the NTU ESC × MOM Essay Competition 2025. This competition offers you the opportunity to analyse pressing manpower issues using economics analysis, sharpen your policy-writing skills and engage directly with Senior Stakeholders within MOM. Teams will submit a 2500-word research paper (PDF) on 1 of the 2 essay questions released on 9 June.
Why take part?
1. Real-world impact: Explore one of two themes: Labour Force Participation or AI & Emerging Technology, producing insights that matter for Singapore’s workforce strategy.
2. Professional exposure: Finalists will present to senior MOM officials and the top three teams will be invited to apply for internships with the Manpower Research & Statistics Department (MRSD) or Workplace Policy & Strategy Division (WPSD).
3. Attractive prizes: Cash awards of S$1,000 (Champion), S$800 (1st Runner-Up) and S$500 (2nd Runner-Up) await the winning teams.
Eligibility & team composition
1. Open to undergraduates (including AY 2024/25 graduates) from any Singapore university.
2. Form a team of one or two members; each student may join only one team.
